Editorial Standards

Purpose of the Catalogue

The EEMYU Public Domain Literature Library exists to make public-domain texts more accessible and engaging through editorial commentary. Reading notes, category guides, and the archive page are designed to help readers discover works they might otherwise overlook. The catalogue does not claim to be a scholarly edition or a definitive collection.

Scope and Selection

The library currently contains 93 titles, all sourced from Project Gutenberg. Selection is guided by the catalogue project's interest in narrative variety, historical range, and underrepresented voices. No single genre or period is prioritized. The catalogue includes novels, short stories, and episodic works from the 18th through early 20th centuries.

Source Attribution

Every book record credits Project Gutenberg as the publisher. Links point directly to the full text on that platform. No other sources are used. The editorial material is original to this site.

Bibliographic Records

Each ebook record includes the title, author, original publisher, and subject keywords from Project Gutenberg. Where multiple authors or illustrators are credited, all are listed. The catalogue note is prepared as supplementary catalogue material by third parties.

Category Assignment

Titles are grouped into four thematic categories: Exploration Survival Adventure Tales; Fantasy Juvenile Worlds; Technology Airships Imagined Futures; and Historical Social Novels. These categories are heuristic — they reflect broad themes, not strict genre boundaries. A single title may appear in only one category, even if it fits multiple.

Editorial Reading Context

Reading notes are based on the catalogue project's engagement with excerpts from each work, not necessarily the full text. They are meant to orient, not summarize. No claim is made that every book was read in its entirety.

Edition Facts and Text Measurements

The library may provide word count and estimated reading time where the source text can be measured reliably. The text is as published by Project Gutenberg. Illustrations are noted when present.

Recommendations and Related Works

Category guides recommend three titles each. These are suggestions, not endorsements. Recommendations are based on thematic fit, narrative interest, and the catalogue grouping criteria. No algorithm or external review is used.

Corrections and Reader Reports

Readers may submit corrections or suggestions via the contact page. Submitted corrections may be used to update catalogue records. The catalogue does not have a formal errata process.

Public-Domain Limitations

All works in the library are confirmed to be in the public domain in the United States. the catalogue project does not verify public-domain status for other jurisdictions. Readers are responsible for local copyright laws.

Accessibility and Readable Presentation

The site uses semantic HTML and minimal styling. No images, tables, or scripts are used. The editorial material is designed to be readable on screen and in plain text.

Independence and Editorial Responsibility

The catalogue is edited by EEMYU Catalogue. No external organization, university, or publisher is involved. the catalogue project is responsible for all content. The site does not accept submissions or unsolicited contributions.

What the Catalogue Does Not Claim

The EEMYU library does not claim peer review, librarian credentials, or academic affiliation. It does not assert that every book was read in full. Catalogue commentary may use automated assistance during preparation or revision; source records remain the reference point for important bibliographic details. It is not a legal resource for copyright determination.

Ongoing Maintenance

The catalogue is updated infrequently. New titles may be added at the catalogue project's discretion. The existing set of 93 books remains stable.

Bibliographic dates and catalogue measurements

The catalogue distinguishes the Project Gutenberg digital release from a work’s original or first publication. Project Gutenberg is identified as the digital source for the edition available here; its release year is therefore shown as Gutenberg Release Year, not as the work’s original publication year.

When an explicit first-publication or issue date can be supported directly by the title or issue information, it may be shown separately as First Publication Year. When that date cannot be confirmed, the catalogue displays Not confirmed rather than guessing a year.

Where the source text can be measured reliably, the catalogue may provide word count and estimated reading time. These measurements describe reading scope and are not quality rankings.
